This event specially invites world-renowned scholars in the field of microbiology to deliver keynote speeches. Featured speakers include Professor Peer Bork from the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in Germany, who is a pioneer in European human gut microbiome research and one of the originators of the global gut microbiota analysis platform concept "Enterotype." Another speaker is Professor Rob Knight from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD), a globally renowned computational microbiologist and founder of the Center for Microbiome Innovation (CMI). His research encompasses gut microbiota and health, as well as the application of big data and AI in microbiome exploration.

This marks the first large-scale science outreach event, featuring interactive booth activities that guide the public into the invisible world of microorganisms, helping everyone understand the close relationship between microorganisms and the environment as well as human health.
This event invites partners from biotechnology, food, pharmaceutical, environmental protection, and information and communication technology industries to showcase the latest R&D achievements and technological applications in microbiome research. We aim to promote the translational pathway from laboratory to market, building an industrial ecosystem for innovative microbiome applications in Taiwan.
Combining inter-university collaboration with youth creativity, we host a student team creative competition with microorganisms as the theme, encouraging the development of products, applications, or social advocacy projects. This aims to inspire the next generation's imagination and practical abilities regarding microorganisms, with outstanding works being showcased at the carnival venue.
Welcome Message
Ming-Hsien Wu, Chairperson / Dean, College of Medicine, National Taiwan University
Welcome everyone to this health dialogue, starting from the microbe level. These tiny but crucial microorganisms play a part in balancing our bodies, the environment, and even the entire living system.
Today at this carnival, we're not just seeing the power of knowledge; we're also looking forward to seeing the connection between science and society. It's about starting with understanding and moving towards co-existence and mutual benefit.
Whether you're from academia, industry, or the general public, we sincerely welcome you. We hope this event, just like microbes, will nourish new ideas through our exchanges and create more possibilities for health and sustainability. May this event be the starting point where our thoughts and beliefs come together.
